What's this Blog About?

Politics in Wisconsin as they roll up to every level... and some other thoughts that may cross my mind are explored here from my lefty point of view. My values shape my opinions. You'll always find them in here. Let's have some fun exploring why Liberal values are American values!

What? Me Pay for Propaganda?

A new story surfaced this week (or maybe last, but it definitely got wheels this week) that shocker of all shockers, the Bush Administration is paying for propaganda in Iraq. Here's my take:

This is being reported as a shocking allegation of sudden importance, perhaps due to the enormously large price tag on "the project". A quiet, but consistent mantra has been growing that this may not be a good practice for our Government to be engaged in as the "Liberators" of a country. After all, if the press is bought and sold, it's freedom isn't exactly secure.

What strikes me as the enormous pink and purple elephant in the room is that I could swear that less than a year ago, the same Administration was busted paying supposedly independent talking heads large sums of cash to...push propaganda in the supposedly independent and free American television, radio and newspapers. What ever happened to that story by the way? Was anyone held accountable by the Congress or the "independent American media"? I wonder why not?

Maybe it's a stretch, but I have the sneaking suspicion that there is a coincidence here...

And then there's Jeff Gannon, whose real name is Guckert... offering himself up on militarystud.com as a $200-an-hour male prostitute who had all of those opportunities to routinely slip inside the White House. Guckert, operating as "Jeff Gannon," was granted daily access to White House press briefings for more than two years as a "reporter" for Talon News.
