Now that I've calmed down (I was pretty upset last night when I posted on the DP), I though it would be a good idea to post where you can now educate yourself on the death penalty in the United States. This way, when your friend says "Why not?", you have a LOT of information to share and persuade.
Please take the time to review the sites below. Since we've never had the Death Penalty in Wisconsin, and we now are forced to cast a vote on it, it would be a good idea if we all got up to speed.
A friend of mine collected a number of web site links on the issue of the death penalty at: http://milwaukeerenaissance.com/Main/TheDeathPenalty
Here are some of them:The ACLU has some excellent information for this cause. What follows is from their website at http://www.aclu.org/capital/index.html
Amnesty International: Against the Death Penalty Amnesty International Provides recent information on the death penalty, books on the death penalty, and related web sites.
Catholics Against Capital Punishment (CACP) http://www.igc.org/cacp/ A national advocacy organization working for the abolition of the death penalty in the U.S. Site includes CACP background, news, and links to related sites. (Last checked 08/05/05)
