Registration – 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.

Morning Plenary – 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Keynote from Kate Stewart, partner at Belden, Russonello & Stewart, ACLU’s pollster on public opinion in the post 9/11 era. BRS’s on-going work for the ACLU includes message development in the debate between civil liberties and the fight against terrorism. Kate Stewart has worked on projects for other Wisconsin clients, so she’s familiar with local opinion. BRS is located in Washington D.C.

Break 10:30 – 10:45 a.m.

Morning Breakout Sessions – 10:45 – Noon
Digital Activism – featuring Jason Hargis, ACLU of Wisconsin Youth Program Associate and Chris Dols, UW Campus Antiwar Network

Life After the Marriage Amendment – featuring Larry Dupuis, ACLU of Wisconsin Legal Director and co-counsel in our legal challenge to a ban on domestic partnership benefits and LGBT rights activists on advocacy efforts around the state.

Safe and Free After the Patriot Act – Tim Sparapani, Legislative Counsel for the ACLU Washington Legislative Office (repeated in the afternoon).

Protecting Voting Rights – Restore the Vote WI! featuring Renee Crawford, ACLU of Wisconsin Associate Director; State Representative Joe Parisi (D-Madison); and Reggie Jackson, Lead Griot of America’s Black Holocaust Museum in Milwaukee.

Break Noon – 12:15 p.m.

Luncheon Program at the Lowell Center – 12:15 – 1:45 p.m.
Call to Action and ACLU of Wisconsin Annual Meeting – featuring national ACLU Legislative Counsel Tim Sparapani. Tim Sparapani is Legislative Counsel for the ACLU Washington Legislative Office where he lobbies Congress and the executive branch on safe and free issues. Originally from Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Tim is a 2000 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School.

Afternoon Breakout Sessions 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.

Guerilla Theater for Social Change – featuring Emilio De Torre, ACLU of Wisconsin Youth and Program Director, and Carolina Soza of Teatro Maquis in Milwaukee.

Safe and Free After the Patriot Act – Tim Sparapani, Legislative Counsel for the ACLU Washington Legislative Office.

Effective Grassroots Organizing – Local activists from Green Bay, Madison and Milwaukee will share their experiences.

Wrap up and Debriefing – 3:30 – 4:00 p.m.
