Politics in Wisconsin as they roll up to every level... and some other thoughts that may cross my mind are explored here from my lefty point of view. My values shape my opinions. You'll always find them in here. Let's have some fun exploring why Liberal values are American values!

Senators Hall of Shame...

This is the list of Democrats along with all the republicans who today allowed the Bush administration to watch you forever... Not only that, but they also voted to take the decision as to whether the telecoms broke the laws out of the courts hands and give them blanket immunity for spying on you... Don't kid yourself either, with millions in the database who were spied on, you are most likely on the list... No filibuster, no stalling this until next year, they caved plain and simple. Most of them refused to strip the bill of the immunity clause and all of them voted for cloture (and against filibuster). Bush gets what he wants... cowards...

Baucus, Bayh, Carper, Casey, Clinton (didn't bother to show up), Conrad, Feinstein, Inoye, Johnson, Kohl, Landrieu, Lieberman(independent), Lincoln, McCaskill, Mikulski, Nelson (NE), Nelson (FL), Pryor, Rockefeller, Salazar, Whitehouse.

Is your Senator on this list? Call them and tell them to allow the House version to go to the President. Tell them to have the guts to let Bush veto the FISA bill he so desperately wants and try to explain to the American people that he did it because he wanted to let their phone company off the hook. American's just love their phone companies don't they...

The House version is slightly better. They had the guts to strip immunity from the bill on their side. Now it goes to conference and we have to hold our breaths and hope to god that Pelosi has the guts to stick with the House version. I lose a lot of sleep hoping for Pelosi to take a stand...

The lack of sense of all of this is appalling! Let it through and live to fight another day? There are good names on this list, but names of people who for whatever reason cannot and will not stand up to this administration.

It's worth noting that McCain voted for cloture (against filibuster), Clinton didn't show at all today and Obama voted for American's - our - privacy and our right to go to court on every amendment and he voted to filibuster today. A true American. In the middle of a presidental bid in a tight race, he said "screw you" to the Bush administration and took a stand. Nearly unheard of in politics today. I am beside myself proud of him. He's not afraid to take a stand when it really matters. This is WHY I SUPPORT him to be our next President. I'm sick and tired of the cowards... I want a real American hero to be my president and next week Tuesday, I'll be proudly voting for one!

I'm happy that the government will spy on foriegn persons that the government believes are in communications with people in the US. But what is shocking is that you could say that Obamma's stand is a brave one. What's so brave about saying what the radical lefty base wants to hear? Nothing. Bravery comes when one takes a stand that might do them political damage. Imagine that: a lefty like Obamma saying "screw you", not to Bush, but to measures that might improve security, that might just stop a terrorist attack. What a hero. I'm sure he lost a lot of votes on the left for that principled stance.

I wish I thought Pelosi and the House would show some guts in defense of freedom; but I'm not betting on it.

The entire problem our country faces today is divisiveness. (As perfectly depicted in the comment from Patrick i might add... but then I'd be as narrow minded as hee... heee heeeeee....)
Opinions - we all have them ... but if you state them and they differ from anyone elses.... THEY STINK.
No one should be allowed to tap the phone of another - UNLESS - they have followed the legal chanels which were well in place prior to Bush(it) Patriot Act crap.
Remeber: that intelligence gathering method worked until CONDI DECIDED THE INTELLIGENCE GATHERED WAS NOT WORTH LISTENING TO OR HEEDING- and the horrific attack ensued. Chicken Little Bush took over and convinced HIS ILK the sky was falling. Patriot(less) Act.
It's all Bush(it). And we're stuck with it until next January.

Spying on EVERYONE does NOTHING to improve security... It's a totalitarian tactic and it produces way too much information for any gov't agency to process! Get a warrant and focus on the bad guys. This program is unnecessary a waste of MY money and gives unfettered and unprecedented and illegal access to the government to my personal information.

It was heroic and patriotic because first of all he showed up (Hill didn't) and then he voted for to protect the 4th amendment as is required when you swear an oath to uphold the constitution!
