The VP Race and other Presidential Thoughts...

I've wanted to write this post for weeks or maybe even months, but have held off due to well, I actually don't know why... I guess I felt really in the dark.

So let's start with McCain...

I can't imagine him having any other choice for VP except Lieberman. This actually makes me sick to my stomach. To think that I once went door to door handing out flyers that had this man's name on them. It actually makes me feel a bit better that Bush stole the election in 2000 knowing that he stole it from this tool (not really, Gore just would have been so much better, I still can't even think about how different the world would have been if...).

McCain is smart though (well about this, if he has the guts to do it, the evangelicals will go ballistic). A large portion of the jewish vote (important in places like Florida) goes with Lieberman on the ticket. It also makes the ticket more palatable to those insane Clinton women who just will not support Obama (how you go from Clinton to McCain as a woman is beyond me... womanizing, abuse and the worst record on women's issues in the Senate, these women need to wake up and deal with it, McCain will devastate women's rights in this country). Although why I don't know. Lieberman is as crazy about spreading our children in the military around the world willy nilly as McCain and Bush, he forsook his party after being defeated by it and was elected, supported and literally bought out by the Republicans to win the general and now he owes them big time...

McCain is freaking me out in general actually. He's incoherent, stuttering, dotty, and literally sounds like a republican stepford wife (and don't get me started on Cindy). The McCain I at least had some admiration for is long gone. Bought and sold by the neocons to try to achieve his lifetime dream, to be president. When he went after Obama the other day for his ambition to be president, I nearly fell off my chair. This from the man who has been running for president in one capacity or another for the better part of 16 years... Does he have no one on staff to vett this stuff with first? He really has no other choice than Lieberman. And it makes sense. When L said he wasn't going to the Dem convention, I was not surprised... I was surprised when rumors went around that he was going to the GOP convention and he quickly denied them in a sort of non-committal way. Hmmm.... that's odd I thought.

I have no doubt that Lieberman is the choice on the GOP side and my response is what-ever! Any moderate votes that pulls from Obama weren't voting for him anyway and just wanted an excuse...

So let's move on to Obama's VP derby.

My money's on Biden, but I could also see and would prefer Richardson. Richardson was my first strong gut feeling in this race. I really like him in Milwaukee last year. He's got enormous experience both domestically and internationally and he's just a really brilliant man who's done great things in New Mexico. Richardson came through at a crucial time for Obama, and I believe has more relevant experience. It also secures the latino vote. In fact it solidifys it. Richardson is cool, good looking (I like him better with the beard ;-), and when I met him, I thought he was the nicest man I'd met in decades! He really cares and has really done things in NM to help people.

Biden's the safe choice for the most part. His only drawback is his mouth... which can be loose and uncontrollable, even by him. It actually makes me laugh hysterically when I hear him mispeak or get really excited and say something stupid. You know what he means, but you just want him to stop trying... Overall, though I could live with Biden, he brings a feel to the ticket I like and you won't find me complaining about that choice.

Another good choice and someone I grew to really love during the primaries is a dark horse pick, Chris Dodd. I LOVE this guy and would be thrilled if he got the nod as unlikely as it may be...

The only other option I can actually see (since Edwards is obviously out and Gore won't do it) is the dreaded Evan Bayh. If this is the choice, I am going to puke.

Anti-choice, DINO, irritating and the leader of the movement to pull the democratic party to the right, this guy would be disasterous. It will make the conspiracy theorists go insane and destroy the message of the Obama campaign. When he said "Change", Bayh is NOT what we had in mind...

Ever since Obama voted for the FISA bill, his numbers have plummeted. This is just a fact and it reflects people not changing their minds to McCain, but telling pollsters they don't plan to vote at all... Bayh would solidify that and my biggest fear is not that those voters will vote for McCain, but as in the last two elections, they would stay home altogether on the false notion that they are two undesirable sides of the same coin. With Bayh on the ticket, it looks like that more than any other choice he could make...

At that point, just pick Hillary for god's sake...
